The Job

Despite being a purveyor of newsletters, I've never really worked out the purpose of blogs. They seem to comprise of the useless bits of a news letter, where the editor rambles on about something and then forgets the rest of the magazine. I assume some people are so tied to the computer that they end up writing blogs as a substitute for ... for everything really. Warning! Computers make you fat and ruin your posture.

I have a Star Meter on my www.IMDB.com entry that suddenly flickers into life without any web promotional efforts on my part, whenever I manage to get some screenwriting action. And I have found that it matters not a jot whether I have a web site or not.

I offer this as a reality check for writers who spend their time perfecting great web-sites and pouring their creativity into regular updates about the lives of their cats, the book they just read, or the gastric upset they recently endured. This is not the job.
